TE Tyrone Wheatley Jr. leaves Michigan football team

ANN ARBOR -- The Michigan football team will be down a tight end when fall camp opens on Friday.

Tyrone Wheatley, Jr. informed the Michigan coaching staff of his decision to leave the program today, a team spokesman confirmed Thursday night.

Michigan updated its 2018 roster on Thursday, a day before it was set to open training camp in Ann Arbor.

Wheatley, who was entering his redshirt junior season, appeared in 24 games at Michigan. He caught six passes for 61 yards and a touchdown, but was used primarily as a blocking tight end.
