What went wrong
Michigan entered the game with the nation’s No. 1- ranked defense, allowing an average of 210.6 yards a game. The Wolverines also were first in scoring defense and third-down percentage defense, and second against the run, but the Gophers piled on big plays and gained 461 total yards, including 317 passing. It was the most total yardage the Wolverines have allowed all season and only Michigan State has gained more passing yards (328). The Gophers had pass plays of 22, 31, 39, 40 and 52 yards and big runs of 23 and 24 yards.
