Jordan McNair, an offensive lineman, died from a heatstroke in June and in the aftermath DJ Durkin was placed on administrative leave and his football program was under scrutiny.
A "toxic" culture was reported to exist, and it seemed like a matter of when, not if, Maryland's coach would be fired.
Well, the university's board of regents had other ideas, recommending Tuesday that Durkin be reinstated following an investigation that found issues within the program but apparently not enough for Durkin to be fired.
Durkin could be back on Maryland's sideline as soon as Saturday's home game against Michigan State.
