Summer Update: Werenski Looks Back on Whirlwind Summer

Zach Werenski

Sophomore defenseman Zach Werenski has had a whirlwind summer of hockey, a non-stop cycle of events starting with the NHL Draft Combine (June 1-6) in Florida and culminating this week with the U.S. World Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y. (Aug. 1-8). Werenski, selected eighth overall in the 2015 NHL Draft (June 26) by the Columbus Blue Jackets, immediately reported to Columbus' Prospect Development Camp (June 29-July 3) after the draft, where he spent a week getting acclimated to the organization and committing many new faces and names to memory. Upon returning to Michigan, he worked as a counselor at the Red Berenson Hockey Camp for a week in July, before preparing for his trip to Lake Placid this week.
