With star tight end Colston Loveland dealing with an apparent upper-body injury, the Michigan Wolverines could lean on backups Marlin Klein and Hogan Hansen to play a bigger role against the USC Trojans in the Big Ten opener this Saturday. Even if Loveland is able to play, it will be key for Klein and Hansen to be fully prepared if they’re called upon.
Both reserves stepped up and made a significant contribution after Loveland suffered an injury in the third quarter of the win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves last week. Klein showcased his athleticism and skills with three catches for a career-best 43 receiving yards, while Hansen scored the first touchdown of his young career.
