Spike Albrecht and Michigan have gone their separate ways, but it won’t be the last time the two cross paths. The veteran guard will stay in the Big Ten for his fifth year, announcing his plan on Tuesday morning to transfer to Purdue.
A native of Crown Point, Ind., Albrecht had his senior season wiped out by a slow recovery from a pair of off-season hip surgeries. Leaving the court in time to be granted a medical hardship waiver to restore his eligibility, he no longer had a place at Michigan because of a lack of scholarships.
