Special teams coach Baxter headed back to USC

John Baxter spent four years as the special teams coordinator at Southern Cal before taking a year off in 2014, then joining Jim Harbaugh for his first campaign at Michigan. That stint in Ann Arbor turned out to be just a one-year run for Baxter, who is headed back to the Trojan’s program.

Southern Cal announced the hiring of Baxter on Thursday evening.

Under Baxter’s direction, Michigan led the Big Ten with a 27.9 yard kick return average, accomplishing that with three different returners gathering at least 150 years.
