ANN ARBOR -- After Shea Patterson arrived on campus at Michigan in the winter, he knew a call needed to be made.
The newly declared starting quarterback wanted to wear the No. 2 jersey this fall. And while plenty of other Michigan football players have worn the number since a certain former Heisman Trophy winner did, Patterson wanted permission.
So, he picked up the phone and called Charles Woodson.
"Actually, I did," Patterson told the media on Thursday, his first interview with reporters since Michigan's spring trip to France. "My dad coached him in high school, in basketball.
