Seidel: Tougher U-M makes key plays, thwarts MSU

EAST LANSING – Jabrill Peppers saw the hole and came flying through it, like a meteor across the sky.

Peppers flashed across the line of scrimmage, grabbed Michigan State running back Gerald Holmes and yanked him down to stop MSU on a fourth-and-1 from the 38.

“Guys made plays,” Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said, after his team’s 32-23 victory over Michigan State Saturday in Spartan Stadium.

It wasn’t just Peppers.

It was Amara Darboh, the smooth wide receiver, who came up with huge play after huge play, catching eight passes for 165 yards.

It was quarterback Wilton Speight, who dropped back to pass and seemed to turn into a ghost.
