Seidel: Michigan runner Ferlic out to atone for disastrous fall

“Spanning the globe to bring you the constant variety of sport … the thrill of victory … and the agony of defeat.”

Oh, man ... oh, no!

Mason Ferlic looked like he was diving headfirst into a swimming pool.

Only it wasn’t a pool.

The Michigan standout was in the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2015 NCAA track and field championships, attempting to leap over a water jump.

Ferlic’s timing was off, and he clipped the wood barrier. He stretched out his hands, his feet flipped above his head, and he was about to do a header into the water pit.
