University of Michigan President Mark Schlissel has hired Turnkey Search and appointed a search committee to find a permanent athletic director, the school announced Wednesday morning.
The search begins immediately, but there is no specific timetable.
Interim athletic director Jim Hackett, as The Detroit News reported Tuesday night, has decided not to stay in the role permanently but will be part of the search committee, which also will include softball coach Carol Hutchins and Dr. Stefan G. Humphries, a former Michigan football player now medical director at Renown Rehabilitation Hospital in Reno, Nevada.
“I have decided that the time is right to launch a national search for a permanent athletic director,” said Schlissel, who will chair the search advisory committee.
