Ryan Veingrad is no stranger to overcoming obstacles. In early 2015, the high school senior from Spanish River Community High School in Boca Raton, Fla., was in the midst of recovering from season-ending microfracture surgery on his right knee.
When his rehab ended, his doctors discovered a completely different health issue: cancer.
Veingrad had noticed large lumps forming on his neck. The doctors diagnosed him with Hodgkin lymphoma, a treatable form of cancer that originates in a person's white blood cells.
"When I started losing my hair, I started feeling a little sorry for myself," he said in an interview with MLive.
