The Michigan Wolverines have hired Kentucky assistant Steve Clinkscale for its recently-vacated defensive backs coaching job, according to a report from The Michigan Insider. Clinkscale is getting a three-year deal from Michigan that includes consideration for co-defensive coordinator duties starting in year two. He will be the team’s pass game coordinator this season in addition to defensive back duties.
Clinkscale replaces Maurice Linguist, who left his post of defensive backs coach and co-defensive coordinator to take the head coaching job at Buffalo. Linguist was hired in January as part of Michigan’s overhaul on the defensive side of the ball.
