ANN ARBOR -- A wide-open race at cornerback apparently wasn't enough to keep sophomore Keith Washington.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound defensive back intends to transfer out of the Michigan football program, Scout.com's Sam Webb reported on Monday.
Washington, a third-year sophomore, played in nine games for the Wolverines in 2016. Most of his duties came on special teams, but Washington (three tackles) also saw limited reps at cornerback.
A three-star quarterback in high school, Washington, of Prattvile, Ala., signed with Michigan in February of 2015 after previously committing to California. He converted to cornerback upon his arrival in Ann Arbor in 2015, but did not play his freshman season.
