Report: Maurice Hurst diagnosed with heart condition

ESPN analyst Adam Schefter, citing unnamed NFL sources, reported today that former Michigan defensive tackle Maurice Hurst Jr. has been diagnosed with a heart condition and will not participate in the NFL Combine. The exact nature and seriousness of the condition was not specified, with Hurst set to undergo further testing.

A consensus All-American in 2017, Hurst was expected to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft in late April. It is not yet known how this development will impact his future playing career.

Hurst was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree at Michigan, earning his bachelor’s degree in sport management before starting work on a master's degree from the School of Social Work in Management of Human Services, with a focus on Child/Youth Services.
