Last month, 247Sports released its first full Top247 for the 2021 recruiting class that included five from the state of Michigan. Better yet, all of them are currently ranked within the top 100 overall; a benchmark of what most analysts would say is an elite football prospect.
The news that Michigan's in-state group in 2021 could be elite is music to the staff's ears as they have mostly dominated their home state ranks under Jim Harbaugh. Outside of the 2019 cycle when Belleville prospects Devontae Dobbs (No. 1) and Julian Barnett (No. 2) signed with Michigan State, the Wolverines have signed the state's top two prospects every year (according to 247Sports) going back to 2015 in Harbaugh's first cycle.
