The Michigan Wolverines had a perfect start to its Big Ten title defense in the 51-7 blowout of Colorado State on opening day. The Wolverines didn't miss a step defensively without Aidan Hutchinson as it held the visiting Rams scoreless for nearly the entire game and the offense built an insurmountable lead.
The debate at starting quarterback rages on as both Cade McNamara and J.J. McCarthy contributed touchdowns in the rout and guided the offense effectively against the overmatched Colorado State defense.
McNamara played most of the game, going 9-for-18 for 136 yards and one touchdown while McCarthy was 4-for-4 for 30 yards and added 50 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.
