FRISCO, Texas -- The relationship began more than a year ago.
Michigan's coaching staff had shown interest in Eric Gray, a talented but undersized running back out of Memphis, Tenn. Gray had just been named Mr. Football for the first time and interest (and offers) were flowing in from schools across the country.
The Wolverines wanted to extend the 5-foot-10, 191-pound back a scholarship offer -- but first, they wanted to see him in person.
"I went to the camp (last June), and maybe a month later I didn't hear from them a lot, at all," Gray, who committed to Michigan over the weekend, said Monday at The Opening.
