ANN ARBOR -- Michigan will be down a quarterback as it opens up the season next week at Notre Dame.
Jeff George Jr., the son of former NFL quarterback Jeff George, has opted to transfer out of the Michigan football program and pursue graduate school elsewhere, team spokesman Dave Ablauf confirmed to MLive in a Saturday morning text message.
The Wolverine Lounge, which first reported the news Friday night, says the 6-foot-3, 220-pound George plans to transfer to the University of Pittsburgh. He'll be able to play immediately and still has two years of eligibility remaining.
