JACKSON, MI - Prisoners at a Jackson correctional facility raised $2,000 last week to benefit the the ChadTough Foundation.
They participated in a 5K race Sept. 22 at the G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility, 3500 N. Elm Ave., a week before the fifth annual RunTough for ChadTough 5K Saturday, Sept. 29, at Saline High School, 1300 Campus Parkway.
The annual race began in 2013. Last year's event raised $187,000.
Around 160 prisoners ran in their race last Saturday, said Chris Gautz, Michigan Department of Corrections public information officer.
Prisoners presented $2,000 from the prisoner benefit fund to the ChadTough Foundation, with $300 for bracelets, Gautz said.
