Preparation has Michigan QB Dylan McCaffrey trending up

ANN ARBOR -- Dylan McCaffrey's college debut came when he least expected it, with his team trailing in the second half of its season opener at Notre Dame.

Michigan's starting quarterback, Shea Patterson, had to leave the game with leg cramps, thrusting the redshirt freshman into action for the first time since high school.

And while the butterflies were there, McCaffrey walked onto the field in South Bend, Ind., before a sold-out stadium crowd and national TV audience looking like he had done this before.

"It's just one of those things -- you've got to prepare like you're one play away all the time," McCaffrey told reporters on Tuesday.
