WASHINGTON – Michigan’s locker room went quiet and was starting to empty out. Long after the post-game celebration, Derrick Walton Jr. stood by his locker, as a wrap started to unravel off his right knee.
Walton had just played an incredible game on Saturday afternoon in an 84-77 victory over Minnesota. He basically willed the Wolverines to another victory, leading them into today’s Big Ten tournament championship against Wisconsin.
But you wanna know the wild part?
Walton did all of that, playing 37 minutes of unbelievable basketball, scoring 29 points with nine assists, just a few days after he banged up his knee in all of the confusion and panic after Michigan’s plane skidded off a runway at Willow Run Airport.
