Michigan is no stranger to quarterback controversies. Having dealt with them for five consecutive years, it would be weird if there was not one at this point.
The dark years inevitably dealt with this positional controversy: 2008 featured a battle between Nick Sheridan and Steven Threet (woof) and 2009 saw true freshmen Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson compete for snaps. Even during Michigan’s 1997 national championship season there was a controversy over whom would start between Brian Griese, Scott Dreisbach and rising sophomore Tom Brady.
But perhaps no season is stranger than the one upon us.
