O’Neill pushing to be primary punter at U-M

Blake O’Neill hasn’t convinced his Michigan teammates of the nutritional value and culinary delights of Vegemite, the tangy, thick, black sandwich spread.

But like any Aussie worth his salt, he is working on it.

O’Neill, a 22-year-old punter from Melbourne, has offered to share Vegemite, an Australian staple, with U-M long snapper Scott Sypniewski.

“I’ve yet to accept,” said Sypniewski, a sophomore from Ottawa, Ill. “I’d rather stick to watching Blake punt.”

Punting is what O’Neill can do better than most.

A graduate transfer from Weber State in Ogden, Utah, O’Neill is pushing to be the primary punter at U-M.
