Ole Miss responds to Michigan QB Shea Patterson's waiver application

Shea Patterson's quest for eligibility in 2018 has hit the final step.

The University of Mississippi formally responded to the NCAA and University of Michigan this week, Thomas Mars, the Arkansas-based attorney representing Patterson, confirmed to MLive on Wednesday.

Patterson, who transferred to Michigan in January, now awaits a final decision from the NCAA. That could come any day now, but the NCAA has not formally commented on a timeline.

Patterson, through Mars and the University of Michigan, submitted a formal application for a waiver allowing him to immediately play in the fall. Typically, a player transferring from one Football Bowl Subdivision team to another must sit out a year in academic residence.
