The first matchup this season between second-seeded Michigan and third-seeded Oklahoma ended in a 16-9 Michigan victory after a back-and-forth slugfest that saw the two teams combine for 24 hits and four lead changes.
But when the two met once again Saturday night in the Women’s College World Series, the Sooners came out on top. Michigan battled furiously after Oklahoma took an early lead, but the Wolverines were unable to complete the comeback, losing 7-5.
“Congrats to Oklahoma,” said Michigan coach Carol Hutchins. “They came out and they were on their game. They had a great gameplan — they attacked us and put us on our heels.
