Northwestern stuns Michigan, 67-65, with football pass at buzzer

EVANSTON, Ill. – This one will sting.

Michigan fell to Northwestern in painful fashion Wednesday night, losing 67-65 at Welsh-Ryan Arena in the final seconds, allowing Northwestern’s students to swarm the floor in celebration.

Holding the ball with 1.7 seconds to play in the tie game, but needing to go the length of the floor, Northwestern’s Nathan Taphorn threw a perfect baseball pass to Dererk Pardon, who laid it in with no time left.

It hurt twice as much because U-M (19-11, 9-8 Big Ten) gave them the final opportunity.
