That’s all the Detroit Mercy softball team gave up in their final three games of the Horizon League tournament, claiming their first berth in the NCAA tournament since 1992.
The second-seeded Titans beat the HL’s top seed, Illinois-Chicago, twice on Saturday, with a 1-0 score in the championship game of the double-elimination tournament.
Before that, facing elimination after an 8-0 loss to UIC on Friday afternoon, the Titans beat Northern Kentucky, 4-1, on Friday night, then beat UIC, 2-0, in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon.
The Titans’ win on Saturday night clinched a spot in the 64-team NCAA softball tournament.
