PARIS, France -- A recent change to the NCAA rules on student-athlete transfers appears to have helped pave the way for Shea Patterson to play at Michigan.
According to a report published by the NCAA from its Division I council and standing committee meetings, a modification was made April 16-18 to the Division I Four-Year College Transfers Directive that allows, "under limited circumstances," players to use the one-time transfer exception if they satisfy four key exceptions.
And the first of those components, according to a recent CBS Sports report, was included "out of nowhere."
