'More confident' Hayden Lavigne backstops Michigan to sweep over Penn State

ANN ARBOR - Michigan sophomore goalie Hayden Lavigne was pulled after giving up four goals on 17 shots in a 5-0 loss to Michigan State on Dec. 8.

The Wolverines were allowing 3.31 goals per game at that point in the season, hoping Lavigne or sophomore Jack LaFontaine would prove themselves as a viable No. 1 goaltender.

Lavigne has done that. The Brampton, Ontario native has started seven of the eight games since, winning five and posting a 2.00 goals-against average.

He has won four in a row, including Saturday's 43-save performance in a 3-2 victory over Penn State at Yost Ice Arena.
