LOS ANGELES -- Michigan fans should be grateful that Moritz Wagner's mom hates the rain.
Growing up in Berlin, Germany, Wagner's first love was soccer. He was literally growing out of the sport, but as he approached high school he remained torn between soccer and basketball.
"If you want to do something seriously, you've got to choose one," Wagner said. "I loved soccer so much so it was a really hard decision."
Hoops was only in the running because Mrs. Wagner forced her son to consider an indoor sport.
"My mom was sick of standing outside and watching me play soccer in the rain and snow so she dragged me to a gym sport and I chose basketball.
