Ryan LaMarre has been optioned to Triple-A Rochester, according to the Minnesota Twins.
LaMarre, a Jackson Lumen Christi graduate and University of Michigan standout outfielder, was one of the surprise stories of the spring by making the major league Opening Day roster after being a non-roster invitee to camp.
LaMarre, who was optioned on Friday, was enjoying the most successful stretch of his career in the majors. The 29-year-old journeyman started two games and appeared in six this season, going 4-for-8 and driving in a run.
Prior to this season, LaMarre was just 2-for-37 in three combined seasons in Cincinnati, Boston, Oakland and Los Angeles.
