Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh called President Donald Trump's suggestion that NFL teams "fire" players for kneeling during the national anthem "ridiculous" on Saturday.
On Tuesday, speaking on the Big Ten teleconference, Harbaugh was asked how he'd feel if some of his Michigan players took a knee during the playing of the anthem prior to a game.
"I would respect their right to do so," Harbaugh said.
A year ago, a handful of Michigan players stood for the anthem with raised fists throughout the 2016 season. At the time, Harbaugh said he supported his players' right to "freedom of expression" and for "speaking their mind.
