Michigan defensive line coach Greg Mattison knew what he had last season.
A senior-laden front four loaded with NFL talent and four reserves that could give them a break, taking major snaps.
By rotating, everyone stayed fresh.
Mattison appreciates it even more now that those seniors are gone.
Unlike nearly all of Michigan’s other positions, the new starters on the line have that experience from last year.
Chase Winovich, Maurice Hurst and Rashan Gary all had between 27-35 tackles and played the whole season, plus Bryan Mone had 12 in 10 games.
The challenge now is finding who will fill their roles as they ascend to the front line.
