After a nail-biter at the Big House, the Michigan Wolverines are off to a 3-1 start, defeating USC by a final score of 27-24. It was a game that few expected Michigan to win coming in, and at times it certainly looked like Michigan would be walking out of Week 4 with two losses on its resume.
A big reason for the early pessimism was the defense not really looking like the dominant unit we’d seen a year ago. Michigan’s opponents were averaging 20 points a game coming into the contest, and the Wolverines were picked apart by Quinn Ewers and Texas just two weeks prior.
