Michigan's backup QB situation remains unclear after Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Michigan came into the weekend with a hazy situation behind Shea Patterson at quarterback.

And after a 42-7 win over Rutgers on Saturday, it doesn't sound like the fourth-ranked Wolverines are any closer to figuring it out.

Both Brandon Peters and Joe Milton saw playing time to spell Patterson, who dealt with windy conditions to complete 18 of his 27 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns.

Peters, a redshirt sophomore who started four games for Michigan in 2017, was the first quarterback off the bench. He entered the game with 11:37 left in the fourth only to take one snap, handing the ball off to junior running back Chris Evans.
