Michigan's athletic department announced Friday afternoon there was only one positive test for COVID-19 within the department this week as the department emerged from a two-week shutdown.
The department's weekly update stated one student-athlete tested positive between Feb. 6-12 out of 4,499 total tests administered to athletes and staffers.
Cases continue to decrease after the Wolverines were forced to pause all athletic activities for two weeks beginning Jan. 24 due to an outbreak of the B.1.1.7 COVID variant within the department.
Last week, there were seven positive tests (five student-athletes, two staffers).
