ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Transitioning into the 2016 season, the University Michigan football program returns many veteran players in the secondary. The coaching staff, however, welcomes some new faces to the gridiron.
Brian Smith was announced as the defensive backs coach on Feb. 28, the day the team arrived in Bradenton, Florida, to begin spring practice.
Working side by side secondary coach Michael Zordich, Smith was thrown into the spring break scrum almost immediately, learning about the Michigan players and process on the fly.
"Everything happened fast, the whole process," Smith said.
