ANN ARBOR -- The injury to Tarik Black in practice opened the door for other Michigan receivers to step into the spotlight.
And while youngsters Oliver Martin and Ronnie Bell both saw playing time for the first time of their collegiate careers on Saturday, it was Nico Collins who impressed most.
The sophomore wide receiver from Alabama caught three passes for a team-high 66 yards in Michigan's 24-17 loss to Notre Dame, and also earned a high grade from the coaching staff after.
"Which tells me he did a good job of preparation," Michigan receivers coach Jim McElwain said on Wednesday.
