Michigan women's soccer blows past Bowling Green, 3-0, in NCAA tournament opener

The Michigan women’s soccer team wasted little time establishing an edge over Bowling Green in their NCAA tournament opener Friday in Ann Arbor.

The No. 2-seed Wolverines scored in the 18th minute, then tacked on two goals in the second half for a convincing 3-0 win over Bowling Green. Michigan will face the winner of Sunday’s game between Wake Forest and Harvard on Nov. 19.

Meredith Haakinson scored 17:56 in to give the Wolverines an early lead. Nicki Hernandez then followed with a goal at 58:49 to make it 2-0 and Kacey Lawrence added a third goal (with Haakenson and Skylar Anderson picking up assists) at 76:04.
