Ann Arbor — Kim Barnes Arico believes the Michigan women’s basketball team is on the cusp of returning to the NCAA Women’s Tournament after a three-year absence.
And why not?
The fifth-year coach has a solid nucleus — guards Katelynn Flaherty and Siera Thompson and 6-foot-5 sophomore center Hallie Thome — that could put the Wolverines over the top after finishing 21-14 (9-9 Big Ten) last season.
And, the arrival of 5-9 Kysre Gondrezick (Miss Basketball, Benton Harbor) and 6-5 Abby Cole (Wolverines volleyball) could help Michigan jump from the Women’s NIT, where it lost to Florida Gulf Coast in the semifinals, to the NCAAs.
