Indianapolis — Michigan looked like it was well on its way to advancing to the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals.
The Wolverines built a 17-point lead with under 13 minutes to play and were in control much of the game. At least, that was until everything fell apart.
Costly turnovers and an ice-cold offensive stretch doomed eighth-seeded Michigan as it crumbled in a 74-69 loss to No. 9 seed Indiana Thursday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where coach Juwan Howard was back on the sidelines after his five-game suspension.
Grad transfer guard DeVante’ Jones had 18 points, fifth-year senior guard Eli Brooks scored 17 and sophomore center Hunter Dickinson added 15 points for Michigan (17-14), which missed 15 of its final 17 shots of game and committed 10 second-half turnovers.
