ANN ARBOR -- The University of Michigan wants seven home football games every season, a key reason for its recent decision to scrap a scheduled home-and-home series with Virginia Tech.
Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel confirmed the plan to MLive on Saturday during the ChadTough Foundation's "Champions for Change" gala, signaling a desire for the same number of games played at Michigan Stadium for the foreseeable future.
"We need seven home games in every year," Manuel said. "I don't know the specifics of it standing here, but in one of those years we would have six.
"That was really the reason why (we got out of it).
