Michigan football's season opener against Florida will kick off at 3:30 p.m. (2:30 p.m. CDT) on Sept. 2 on ABC.
The Cowboys Classic game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, previously has been a Saturday night kickoff.
But this year's matchup faced a different obstacle: a higher-profile game.
No. 2 Florida State and No. 3 Alabama will meet in the Kickoff Classic in Atlanta that night, so that game will take precedence over No. 14 Michigan vs. No. 21 Florida.
Moving the U-M/Florida game to the 3:30 p.m. slot gives ESPN the opportunity to get a full audience for each game, instead of competing against itself.
