College football's always critical spring evaluation period opened Wednesday, and Michigan wasted no time stopping in on its top priority for the 2016 recruiting class.
Among a handful of recruits Jim Harbaugh's coaching staff saw Wednesday was five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary, the nation's No. 1-ranked player from Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey.
Per 247sports.com, Michigan defensive line coach Greg Mattison made the trip, continuing a rather unique relationship between the Wolverines and Gary.
Gary's former high school coach is current Michigan director of recruiting operations Chris Partridge, and he's also a former teammate of Michigan defensive back Jabrill Peppers and offensive lineman Juwann Bushell-Beatty.
