Ann Arbor — Michigan was looking for a signature win, and got it late Tuesday.
The Wolverines upset third-ranked Maryland, 70-67, before an announced crowd of 12,327 at the Crisler Center. Zak Irvin led Michigan with 22 points, Duncan Robinson had 17 and Derrick Walton Jr. added 12.
Michigan was without leading scorer Caris LeVert for the third straight game because of an injury to his lower left leg, and were coming off an 87-70 loss at Purdue. The Terps entered the game on a nine-game winning streak and had not lost since early December, but leading scorer Melo Trimble was held to two points by the Wolverines.
