Not unexpectedly, Michigan will bowl in Florida on New Year’s Day.
The 9-3 Wolverines, who stayed home last season after a sub-.500 season, will face Florida (10-3) in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Michigan announced Sunday afternoon. This will be coach Jim Harbaugh’s first bowl game as Michigan’s coach.
Michigan’s last appeared in the Orlando bowl on Jan. 1, 2008 and the Wolverines defeated Florida, 41-35, in Lloyd Carr’s final game as head coach. The Gators were coached by Urban Meyer, now the Ohio State head coach.
The Wolverines have not been to a bowl game since the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in Tempe, Arizona, in 2013 — a 31-14 loss to Kansas State.
