Logan Pietila recorded a hat trick, including the go-ahead goal with under five minutes left, as Michigan Tech defeated Michigan, 4-2, in the Great Lakes Invitational championship game on Tuesday at Little Caesars Arena.
It is the 11th time that the Huskies have won the four-team tournament spread over two days in Detroit. MTU (12-8-1) defeated Michigan State on Monday, 4-2.
The Huskies trailed, 2-1, early in the third period when Pietila scored his second of the day at 1:29. Then at at the 15:40 mark, Pietila got the hat trick to put MTU ahead for good.
