The Michigan Wolverines suffered their first regular season loss since 2021 by being embarrassed in the Big House to the tune of 31-12 final score. From the jump, it was apparent Texas was the more physical, explosive and more prepared team, which contributed to the lopsided outcome.
As expected, Michigan dropped in the post-Week 2 edition of ESPN and Bill Connelly’s SP+ rankings. However, the Wolverines didn’t fall as far as you might think, dropping just one spot from No. 12 to No. 13.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with SP+, Connelly describes it as, “a tempo and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency” that takes into account a team’s efficiencies in all three phases of the game.
