Michigan spring practice: Cornerback positions are 'wide open'

Mike Zordich is a football lifer, playing 12 years in the NFL and now in his 15th year coaching.

But he can’t remember cornerbacks as inexperienced as the ones he’ll coach next fall for Michigan.

The only possibility was with a Philadelphia Eagles’ team in 2010 or 2011, but those were already pro players.

“This is young,” Zordich said today after Michigan’s 12th practice of the spring. "Really young."

The cornerbacks in his rotation in last Saturday’s spring game were second-year players LaVert Hill and David Long Jr., true freshmen Ben St-Juste and Ambry Thomas, redshirt sophomore Keith Washington and redshirt junior Brandon Watson.
